What is Bowenwork?

Bowenwork is a gentle, non-invasive approach that has helped countless individuals find relief from pain and chronic conditions, improve mobility and enhance overall quality of life. Bowenwork initiates responses that impact fascia, nerves, lymphatics, organ function, muscles, joints, as well as the autonomic nervous system. A stand-alone, holistic practice, Bowenwork is practiced by massage therapists, occupational therapists, naturopaths, nurse practitioners and others.

Practitioners perform a sequence of small movements on specific points on the body, interspersed with rest periods. Bowenwork is effective and appropriate for anyone to receive, including newborns, athletes, pregnant women, people with sensory sensitivities and the elderly.

Why Become a Bowenwork Practioner?

Compared with other modalities, Bowenwork is one of the easiest on the practitioner, and one of the most effective. With minimal application of gentle moves, professional Bowenwork practitioners can be more effective with more clients (even seeing multiple clients at once) without getting injured or burned out.

Overview of Bowenwork Certification Program:

The 7-module certification program is designed for students who want to develop Bowenwork as an important part of their practice. Seven 2-day certification modules provide in-depth training in technique, anatomy and practice of Bowenwork. Students are guaranteed a small class size with instruction and supervision from pre-eminent visiting Bowenwork instructor Karin Twohig and Patricia Hopper, local instructor-in-training. Certification allows practitioners to market themselves as Professional Bowenwork Practitioners. As members of the American Bowen Academy, practitioners have access to video tutorials, CE courses, advanced training, and online mentoring.
